Howard of Effingham School celebrates KS5 results
There is cause for celebration at The Howard today, as young people receive their A-level results and firm-up plans for their next great adventure. In a cohort of 166 students, 9% of grades were A*, 35% of the grades were A* to A, 68% of the grades awarded were A*-B, with 86% being A*-C at A Level. These outcomes are even better than last year’s already impressive results.
High achievers this year included Courtney Ncube with 3A*s and 2As, Harry Chow (A*A*A*B), India Gulliver (A*A*A*), Will Ince (A*A*A*), Annabelle Krige (A*A*A), Fleur Pinnington Jones (A*A*A).
Thanks to today’s results, young people from the Howard are heading to a range of exciting destinations. Harry Chow will be taking up a place at Corpus Christi College, Oxford to study Material Sciences and Maggie Parker will be reading Economics & Management at St Hilda’s College, Oxford. Zafir Ahmed and Brooke Warnes have gained places to study Medicine whilst Madeleine Hallam will be taking up a place to study Veterinary Medicine. Sophie Robinson goes on to study at the London Academy of Dramatic Arts, Alexandra McInally will be studying Illustration Animation at Kingston, and Adam Tyerman will study Film & Production at York. We are proud of all our students and the wide variety of career paths that they are going on to.
It was a good year for twins with three sets in the year group! Joshua and Oliver Berryman achieved identical grades (A*AA) and are setting off to Lancaster and Cardiff. Gabi and Melissa Roberts are heading off to Manchester and Bath. Samuel and Thomas Mellstrom are planning for very different career paths in Music Technology and Genetics.
Principal of the Howard, Mr James Baker, was absolutely thrilled with the results, saying:
“Words cannot express just how proud I am of this year’s Year 13. They are an extraordinary group of young people, who have supported one another brilliantly throughout their time at the Howard. Today’s results are testament and reward for their hard work, determination, and resilience. My thanks must also go to all the fantastic Howard teachers and our remarkable 6th Form Team for the way in which they have guided students during their time at the school. Whilst we are sad to see them go, on behalf of everyone at the Howard, we wish them the very best in whatever adventures await!”
