Betchwood Vale Academy
The Howard Partnership Trust (THPT) are working closely with the Department for Education and their chosen contractors, Bowmer + Kirkland, on an exciting new school development at a proposed site in Dorking, subject to planning permission.
Betchwood Vale Academy will help support the overwhelming need for SEND places in Surrey, by offering a co-educational all-through SEND school designed for up to 180 learners aged 7-19 years, which will support young people with Communication and Interaction Needs (COIN), and Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) predominantly High Functioning Autism (HFA).
The development of Betchwood Vale Academy will embrace THPT’s vision, values and ethos in ‘bringing out the best’ in our young people of all abilities and backgrounds so increasing their life-chances in a successful transition into independent adulthood.
UPDATE MARCH 2022 - The previous application for Betchwood Vale Academy was withdrawn last year. Since then, the project team has undertaken a collaborative approach to review design principles with Mole Valley District Council officers and an independent Design Review Panel.
The improved design effectively responds to the needs of pupils and staff at Betchwood Vale Academy, the local community and those of the local planning authority - Mole Valley District Council.
